Piccadilly Gardens is set to host a festival of ice this weekend. For two days, the gardens will transform into a winter wonderland teeming with a flurry of glacial artwork sculpted by ice artists. Don your cosiest winter garb and fumble through an array of arctic creatures and frosty figures including reindeer, snowmen, ice fairies and polar bears. Even the big guy, Father Christmas himself, will make an appearance. If you fancy yourself as a dab hand at ice sculpting then have a go at carving a three-metre block of ice in a grand gesture of season greetings for the people of Manchester. So dig out your skates and discover a spine-chilling world of wintry wonderment.
