Plans for a 180-room floating hotel have been revealed for Salford Quays’ North Bay.
The Good Hospitality Group is behind the concept, which they say would become a ‘new landmark’ for the area, contributing to its ongoing regeneration. The group already has floating hotels in London’s Royal Docks, Antigua and Guatemala City.
Along with 180 stylish rooms, the proposed hotel will also include a welcoming open-plan living room bar/restaurant open to both the public and hotel guests.
The team say they are already speaking to Salford City Council about how the role their training programme can play in working with unemployed people from the local area, helping them into long-term employment.
Guests will be advised that the hotel is car-free when booking and will be provided with details of public transport routes. Secure cycle parking for both guests and staff will be provided within the vessel.
The majority of the hotel’s construction will be completed offsite in a shipyard, helping to minimise disruption to local businesses and residents.
Ahead of submitting a planning application, locals have been invited to share any thoughts and suggestions, which can be done here.
