The Castle Hotel on Oldham Street is one of the area’s leading venues for spoken word events – and in December a brand new poetry night will be added to its already impressive roster. Slam the World will see six brave poets try to win over the crowd and a panel of judges with their verbal dexterity. The night will feature a live performance from Dyslexis, rapper and poet from the Inna Voice Crew, while Trafford-based singer-songwriter Ravi Wimmer will be showing off some new material. If you want to try your hand at the slam, you can contact the organisers via the Facebook page below. But beware: there will be a film crew on the night, so your success or failure will be recorded for posterity. Tickets cost £5, and all funds go to charity.
