The start of March sees comedy three-hander Police Cops In Space land at The Lowry. The brainchild of multi-award-winning trio The Pretend Men, aka Zachary Hunt, Nathan Parkinson and Tom Roe, the show is a follow-up to the boys’ first production, Police Cops, which enjoyed three runs at London’s Soho Theatre, each of which was completely booked up. Critically acclaimed and a total sell-out at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, the latest incarnation of the ‘franchise’, Police Cops In Space is described as (adopt ultra-low gravelly voice) ‘an 80s “low-fi sci-fi” set in the most dangerous place on Earth… Space’, so you have an idea where it’s going. Think evil robots, alien fighters and the last Police Cop in the universe, a distant planet, daft props and a good line in farce. If previous reviews are to go by, laughs are guaranteed – perfect for warming the cockles on a winter’s evening.
