To coincide with Parliament Week (15 – 21 Nov), the People’s History Museum will be hosting its own politics festival, POLLfest, from Friday 15 November. Focusing on this year’s theme of Women in Democracy, the three-day celebration will host special events, activities and more in honour of women’s contribution to politics in the UK. You can hear the views of Lucy Powell as she talks about what it’s like to be Manchester’s first-ever female MP, find out about the pioneering women who have fought for equal say with Working Class Movement Library, and explore the topic on a lighter note with the Comedy Spectacular, featuring performances by acclaimed comedy ensemble Do Not Adjust Your Stage and stand-up comedian Gráinne Macquire (pictured). With special guided tours, Living History workshops and pARTicipate sessions also taking place across the weekend, there’s plenty to get involved in and plenty to learn about this year’s theme. For the full programme, see the POLLfest website.
