Ever taken a quick stroll around the Corn Exchange (née the Triangle) and looked at the few remaining empty lots and thought, ‘I certainly wish there was some kind of bar I could quench my thirst in instead of empty space’? Well sir (or madam), you’re in luck this weekend as pop-up drinking dens… ahem… pop up in the Corn Exchange’s empty stores. For one weekend only you can enjoy the best in city centre shopping while also sampling the best of Manchester’s bars, both past and present. Drinking holes such as RosyLee Tea Rooms, Vermillion Cinnabar, the Ducie Bridge, The Blue Pig and resurrecting itself especially for the weekend is former NQ stalwart Socio Rehab, all hoping to tempt you from your pointless consumerism to imbibe the best beverages these shakers, makers and pourers can create. Providing the soundtrack will be some of the city’s finest DJs including Will Tramp, Luke Unabomber and XFM’s Dwayne Clarke. A very special Spirit Boutique is also being set up by The Drinks Enthusiast, who will be presenting the best in gins, tequilas, rums and vodkas from around the world, offering you the chance to taste their products for free. It certainly beats going to the Trafford Centre. With a lovely drunken stick.
