Following a sold-out premiere at the Southbank Centre’s Alechemy Festival last year, theatre company Rasa’s is setting its sights on its hometown this month with Looking For Kool, a limited-run pop-up production. The play tells the touching tale of Mrs U who, having survived the Sri Lankan civil war, sets up a makeshift family album/secret ritual called The Coconut Grove, as her homeland is taken over by new and foreign developments. Written and performed by Rani Moorphy (pictured), Mrs U sets herself up to survive on just her wits, memories and kool – the comfort stew binding her community. With a limit of only 40 people per event, the play provides an intimate and unmissable experience, taking the audience on a physical walk through the unconventional venue, as the action unwinds through her intimate tales of family and war.
