Billed as ‘the ultimate hands-on interactive gaming experience’, Power Up brings more than 150 consoles and titles from across five decades of world-changing entertainment to the Science and Industry Museum.

Visitors can challenge friends and family on every platform from Atari 2600 to the PS5 and the latest-generation virtual reality systems, across titles including Pac-Man, Minecraft, Sonic, Mario and many, many more.

Rare consoles also offer the opportunity of experiences that you’d likely struggle to find elsewhere, including the original Philips CD-I, 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, Amiga CD32 and Neo Geo CD.

Guests can discover games made by winners and nominees from the BAFTA Young Games Designers Awards. Plus, be inspired by local people behind the games, as well as companies who have made a splash in the world of gaming in a section dedicated to Manchester’s own gaming industry.

After proving such a hit with visitors since first opening in June 2022, the museum has now confirmed that Power Up will remain open for even longer as one of its key visitor experiences, with the titles and consoles to be refreshed regularly.

A newly-launched annual pass means gamers can return as many times as they like over a 12-month period for just £15, less than the cost of two single-day tickets.

Power Up is open on Saturdays and Sundays during term time, and open daily during the school holidays. Avid gamers and nostalgic parents are encouraged to throw down the gauntlet without hesitation. As always, the rest of the world-renowned museum is free to explore during your visit.
