After over 1,400 people visited last year’s inaugural Prestwich Beer Festival it would’ve been rude to not host another one. Helping solidify the bond between local brewers and their surrounding communities, there will be beers available from Brightside Brewery, Seven Bro7hers, Outstanding, Wilson Potter and newcomers Beer Spotters (backed inexplicably by Bez – take that information however you want). Set over three days, there will be comedy from the likes of XS Malarkey favourite and Comedy Central stalwart Rob Rouse, music from Prestwich eight-piece The Flatcappers, Middleton’s wonderfully named The Middletones – plus Saturday’s events, sponsored by local bar Cuckoo, brings the oompah sounds of the Brasswurst Bavarian Beer Band. With something for everyone, Prestwich Beer Festival is determined to shake off the dusty old image of traditional beer fests – and with no beer snobbery, great food from the likes of The Real Thai-Pie Company and Bop Local DJs such as XFM’s Tim Cocker it looks like they’ve must definitely done so.
