A new interactive arts event looks at the concept of community, and how our daily lives collide with those we don’t truly know. ‘The People Of’ uses a specially created free app to guide you on a tour of a vibrant street in Longsight. The app features audio interviews and encounters with a diverse group of residents, from born and bred Mancunians to recent arrivals to the UK. You’ll hear from a cake maker who grew up near the Himalayas and a guy who plays saxophone in the local park. It’s all set to a soundscape of original music and found audio. The project comes from Quarantine – a long-established arts ensemble who work in theatre, performance, and public events. The app can be downloaded via the link below from next Thursday 26 Aug. Then you can enjoy the walk on any day and at any time, but it’s best experienced during daylight hours.
