Cornerhouse launches a season showcasing the best in new queer cinema, with carefully selected LGBT titles to tie in with the current and upcoming Manchester Pride festivities. Included in the line-up is Travis Matthews’ debut film I Want Your Love, Belgian gay romance Beyond The Walls, Swedish film She Monkeys and The Invisibles, which was a hit at Cannes film festival. Also on the calendar is Vito, a documentary about the man who brought us the groundbreaking Celluloid Closet, Vito Russo (pictured). This explores the way in which LGBT culture has been represented in cinema, paying homage to the man who helped completely overhaul queer film theory. Poutfest sets to challenge and engage its viewers, with many screenings prefaced by introductions from scholars and industry professionals.
