POUTFest takes over Hebden Bridge Picture House this summer to celebrate the rich tradition of LGBTQ filmmaking. So far Holding the Man (Mon 8 Aug, pictured) and The Girl King (11 Aug) have been announced at the festival, with more to follow. Based on Timothy Conigrave’s powerful memoirs, Holding the Man incorporates drama and humour into an urban setting to create a moving and evocative piece of filmmaking. Differing from the contemporary approach found in Holding the Man, Swedish film, The Girl King uses a historical setting to demonstrate the transhistorical nature of sexuality in man and women, whether they be of nobility or not.
