That time of the year is almost upon us again – where punters line the streets by record shops for a chance to own an exclusive vinyl release by some of their favourite artists, and 200+ of these independent music merchants across the UK celebrate their culture. Those participating in Manchester include Piccadilly Records, Vinyl Exchange and Eastern Bloc amongst others, and within close proximity, Soup Kitchen continues its annual celebration of artists in the region (and beyond) that are getting them hot under the collar. On the bill are post-punk art rockers ILL, reverb-heavy noise rock outfit Kyotoya and purveyors of bedroom lo-fi Aaberg. Fans of Preoccupations (formally known as Vietcong) can enjoy post-rock group Great Ytene, Peaness will be bringing the indie-pop sounds and The Showers will be joining with their jazzy grunge rock offerings.
