Manchester’s Band on the Wall welcomes Jamaican melodica player Addis Pablo this April for a show celebrating his father’s influence on the reggae and dub genres. Pablo Jnr and his Uppercut Band will be selecting music from Augustus Pablo’s prolific output from 1974 onwards, a discography that includes work with King Tubby’s label for albums such as 1976’s dub benchmark, King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown. Addis Pablo’s own recordings include 2014’s In My Father’s House, which outlined his intention and ability to sustain Augustus’ legacy by laying down the family’s trademark melodica above cleanly produced rhythmic undercurrents.
Thu 19 Apr, 25 Swan Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester, M4 5JZ, Tel: 0161 834 1786, 7.30pm, £13.50-£17.50, www.bandonthewall.org
