This week sees the launch of a new, 1960s beat night at Chorlton’s eclectic Oddest bar, playing the best in Beat/RnB/Psych, all strictly on vinyl. For all those that dig that vintage sound, this new night is set to be a monthly must. Guests can enjoy a bop and a stomp with DJ team Alex and Mick as they spin some of the swellest classics and obscurities. Expect Hammond organ, guitar, harmonicas and, of course, rich and funky bass galore from seminal bands like The Kinks, The Pretty Things, 13th Floor Elevators, Small Faces, Booker T, Pink Floyd and more.

Thu 15 Oct and the 3rd Thursday of every month, Oddest bar, 414-416 Wilbraham Road, Manchester M21 0SD. Tel: 0161 860 7515, 7pm, FREE, www.oddestbar.co.uk
