Back in 2007 Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino brought two movie features to cinema screens as a double bill paean to the B movie mash ups of their formative years. Unfortunately, since this was very much an American culture of cinema worship, few picture houses this side of the Atlantic took the chance and instead split Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Tarantino’s Death Proof into two films much to the bemusement and chagrin of the filmmakers and superfans of their collective works. Seven years on, Manchester horror aficionados Grimm Up North are righting that wrong and showing both films back to back in their original theatrical cuts (missing scenes and all), plus the fake trailers, advertisements and in-theatre announcements created especially by Eli Roth, Rob Zombie and Edgar Wright. A mega night of pulp cinema made by those who love the medium with a ferocious intensity, shown in the manner it demands.
