Acclaimed writer whose lush prose has gotten the Guardian swooning, Rosie Garland is back with her second novel, Vixen. A tale of superstition and devotion in the time of the Black Death, the Manchester launch of Vixen is to be held at the grand Portico Library; a spectacle designed in the Greek revival style that is sure to serve as an apt host. Garland is not only an eclectic writer but a performer too, ranging from singer in a Goth band to poet. To date, she has published five solo collections of poetry and her debut novel, The Palace of Curiosities, won Book of the Year in the Co-op Respect Awards 2013. Copies of Vixen will be available a day before publication at this event thanks to the guys at Chorlton Bookshop.
