Islington Mill may be known for its phenomenal parties that rage until the small hours and as a gallery showcasing Manchester’s best and brightest – but it also serves as the home to over 50 artists studios. So, to address the uncertain future of creative expression – particularly in terms of funding, communications and originality – the Mill has created a three-event series, showcasing artists from its own stable as well as bringing together creative minds for an open discussion on what can be done and whether or not its been done before. The first night of the fortnightly ‘Rule of 3’ explodes with light and sound artist Joanne McClung performing on the fifth floor attic space, live music and film merging in the bar at the one-year celebration of Videojam, an interactive piece by illustrative artist Stephen Nuttall and an open studio of artist-in-residence Rachel Pursglove. Parts 2 and 3 feature Jane Lawson (7/8 Feb), Hannah Leighton-Boyce and Volkov Commanders (21 Feb).
