Band On The Wall are offering a unique chance to learn from reputed teacher and tabla artist Saleel Tambe, well known for his Indian music and skilled accompaniment. Participants will be given the chance to get to know Tambe as he explores the instrument and its uses, whilst sharing his insight into the world of rhythm and percussion before an intimate concert with the talented performer. Consisting of joint exercises and collaboration, the workshop will introduce you to techniques and variations of the instrument, starting with Kayda methods before looking into more advanced approaches and polyrhythmic Tihai calculations. Following the workshop, Tambe will be demonstrating his skill as an accompanist during a concert with an ensemble of musicians, emphasising the use of the tabla in Indian music. With no previous experience necessary, all ages are welcome at the event from beginners to experts. Separate tickets for the concert are also available at £10.
