As Sounds From The Other City has consistently shown, Salford is a musical force to be reckoned with. And the citizens aren’t nearly as frightening as you’ve been lead to believe. In fact they’re a lovely bunch, with a wealth of space to showcase the musical talent sprouting from the city, as well as those from further afield, to bring their musical wares to the people of Salford. Taking place in over 20 venues (including the gloriously named Deli Lama) with over 200 artists, the Salford Music Festival looks set to further take the city out of its noisy neighbour’s shadow. Ren Harvieu (pictured) kicks off proceedings on the Friday, in the beautiful St Philip’s Church, and highlights of the weekend-long festival include reggae legends Aswad, Bells in the Birches and the excellent prog powerhouse Trojan Horse. Salford Music Festival looks set to further cement Salford’s place on the musical roadmap.
