Manchester Metropolitan University has announced the final BA Acting production of the Spring/Summer season, Hedda Gabler.

Hedda Gabler is the renowned masterpiece from Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, one of the world’s pre-eminent dramatists of the 19th century. In this new version by Patrick Marber, the production has been re-imagined for the 21st Century.

Speaking on the production, the show’s director Seán Aydon said: “His visionary presentation of a truly unsympathetic female character was way ahead of his time and in this new version, it feels more relevant than ever. Watching Hedda is like watching a car crash in slow motion – horrifying and gripping in equal measure.”

This Spring/Summer finale comes to Grosvenor East theatre from Thu 1 May – Sat 3 May, and follows previous season performances of Caryl Churchill’s contemporary classic Love and Information, and Shakespeare’s classic rom-com, As You Like It.
