Unfortunately, it seems that 2016 will mostly be remembered as a year of celebrity deaths. For many a music fan, among the saddest was the passing of David Bowie. The great man would have turned 70 years old in January 2017, so to mark this occasion and to celebrate his life, there will be a club night in his honour. The organisers are, appropriately enough, Scary Monsters – the folks behind a regular and highly-rated eighties night. The venue is Pub/Zoo, a joint boozer and club on Grosvenor Street. You can expect to hear all Bowie’s most danceable hits from throughout his career, not just his stuff from the eighties, a lot of which was a bit rum. There’s no word yet as to whether there’s any Tin Machine on the playlist.
Sat 7 Jan, Pub/Zoo, 126 Grosvenor Street, Manchester, M1 7HL. Tel: 0161 273 1471, 11pm – 3am, £6 (advance), www.facebook.com
