This January, Lowry welcomes the latest production from the award-winning, female-led, Tmesis Theatre.
Sealskin is inspired by the old folklore sea tale of Selkies. Every full moon, the Selkies appear, peeling away their seal skin and dancing freely as humans in the moonlight.
One night, after a fisherman uncovers the secret of these mythological creatures and steals a Selkie’s skin, a story of betrayal begins to unfold.
Exploring ideas of belonging, otherness and home, Sealskin combines Tmesis’ trademark playful and highly skilled physicality with mesmerising puppetry, captivating storytelling, incredible projection design and live original music from acoustic duo Me and Deboe.
“An absolutely enchanting piece of theatre… a real beauty” – Arts City Liverpool
