Hundreds of local musicians and singers of all levels and backgrounds will join the BBC Philharmonic this weekend for two free performances at Salford Quays.

The special event was intended to kick off the now-postponed We Invented the Weekend Festival, which has been delayed following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

However, the BBC Philharmonic shows will still be going ahead. Michael Betteridge (Artistic Director of The Sunday Boys – Manchester’s LBTQ+ low voice choir) will conduct the piece and has also written Docks Unlocked, a special song based on an original poem by Salfordian Poet, Lynn Walton which celebrates the history of Salford Docks.

Taking place on the MediaCity Piazza, performances will take place between 12.30pm – 1pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
