Selective Hearing are right at the front of Manchester’s modern techno scene, and their ability to programme some of the best events in the UK should need to introduction to the already initiated. This Bank Holiday weekend, Selective Hearing take over the Soup basement to present live sets from very different artists who share a common vision – to progress the current electronic music and experimental music scene into new territory. Redshape, who always performs behind a mysterious red mask, is currently based in Berlin, but very much originates from the Detroit school of hard, progressive techno production. By contrast, Manchester’s Ghosting Season are a duo whose ability to create dancefloor friendly beat driven modern house/techno music beautifully contrasts with their more ambient, beatless and introspective work. These multiple disciplines are complimentary without the music feeling fractured, which highlights their true talent and fundamental understanding of their chosen artistic path.
