Humans seem to have an innate desire and passion for sharing things which we enjoy with others – and that’s exactly how Egoiste Gallery came into being. The art lovers behind the independent, contemporary art gallery began with an interest in Baiba Auria; a Didsbury-based artist with a famous fan base whose fascination with people is often the subject of her work. Demand increased and serious consideration was needed to turn their hobby into a business. After learning the ropes at Greater Manchester’s many Makers Markets, the team set up a permanent home in Afflecks, Manchester’s leading institution for alternative and independent retailers. Today, the Gallery’s specialisms include fine art prints, sculptures, exclusive limited editions, originals and more. They also provide a design service as well as commissions. Artists on their roster include established and emerging names; a recent addition is Stanley Chow whose work regularly graces the cover of the New Yorker, and billboards around the world for brands such as Lego, WWE and Manchester Metrolink. Having already expanded their space within Afflecks, Egoiste Gallery have cemented their spot as one of the best cult galleries in Manchester. Other stores on the third floor include Doodledug, Stag and Raven art and lifestyle store, and Not on Your Skin glass engraving – click on the links for details. If you like the sound of Egoiste’s collection, why not enter our Afflecks 3rd Floor competition? We are giving away over £600 of original artworks, gifts including a Prince Art Set (framed print, notebook, mug and card worth £100) from the Gallery.
