Much like the entire theatre industry, The Lowry has faced an incredibly difficult past few years. However, with their doors now firmly back open, an already-stellar lineup has been unveiled to get the year off to a flying start.
Among that stacked calendar is an incredible Queer theatre show that should be a definite in the diary of any culture buff.
Short & Sweet—a thoroughly modern variety show comes from the supremely talented and award-winning Thick & Tight dance theatre. Bringing their world premiere to Salford, coinciding with company’s ten-year anniversary, the show promises nine brand-new works to excite, provoke and satisfy, spanning drag, drama, queer culture, lip-syncing, design, satire and dance.
Created by Eleanor Perry and Daniel Hay-Gordon, Short & Sweet brings an eclectic mix of famous and infamous characters to life: Sid Vicious, Twiggy, Grace Jones, Rasputin, Edith Sitwell and everyone’s favourite avant-garde duo, John Cage & Elaine Paige all appearing.
Audiences will have two opportunities to catch Short & Sweet this week, with showings on Tue 18 Jan and Wed 19 Jan. Grab your tickets here.
