Patrick Monahan has been squeezing unsuspecting audience members and generally spreading the love on the stand up circuit for over a decade now. He’s one of the most exuberant comedians around, exuding the energy of someone who’s been mainlining Lucozade. More than just a set of gags, his shows are like a big Geordie love-in where he’s guaranteed to get the audience up out of their seats and involved. There’ll invariably be a dance routine before the close of show too. Born in Iran to an Irish father and Iranian mother then brought up on Teeside, his first 20 months of stand up pretty much wrote themselves. Since those early gigs, he’s performed all over the world including at the Edinburgh Fringe for the past ten years, plus he was a regular on The Paul O’Grady Show and won ITV1’s Show Me the Funny in 2011. If you’re really lucky he might give you a tickle too.
