Brought to the world’s attention in part by the tears of Hollywood actor Shia LaBoeuf (pictured), Sigur Ros maintain their taste for the sublime in this unusual film project celebrating their new album, Valtari. A dozen videos were commissioned by the band to accompany the album tracks, with each director free to establish their personal creative response to the music for the same modest budget. The videos – by artists including Alma Har’el, Andrea Arnold, John Cameron Mitchell, Ramin Bahrani and Floria Sigismondi – are being screened this weekend at venues across the world with the support of fan-sourced responses. In Manchester this project is coming to Moston’s Miners Community Centre in a screening in their newly built space, A Small Cinema. A complimentary mug of (brandy) hot chocolate will be given out to all – but remember to wrap up warmly as it can be chilly in the cinema.

The Miners Community Arts & Music Centre, Teddington Road, (off St Marys Road), Moston, M40 0DJ. 5.30pm, £6, book through www.eventbrite.co.uk, sigur-ros.co.uk
