Probably best known for his portrayal of classic British sketch characters ‘Competitive Dad’, Dave Engel ‘Eco Warrior’ and the alcoholic son constantly falling down the stairs on 90s stable ‘The Fast Show’ Simon Day returns with a cupboard full of creations with new show ‘In Character’ at the Waterside this March. Amongst the colourful characters he will be portraying for one night only is his prog rock persona Brian Pern who you’ll know from his BBC2 mockumentary Life of Rock, there will also be one time Fast Show stalwart Billy Bleach, the know it all that still lives with his mother, unpublished Yorkshire poet Geoffrey Allerton and ‘one of Britain’s most dangerous men’ Tony Beckton. Day’s characters are larger than life but always keep an air of pathos which has kept the comedian at the top of his game for over 20 years now. A unique performer.
