Bench’s Self Made Gallery continues to celebrate those that go out and create for themselves by bringing feted creative collective Sketch City back together for an exhibition, live mural and workshop at its Church Street store in the Northern Quarter. Back in the halcyon days of 2010 sketch City held nights across Manchester that combined DJs (early Hoya:Hoya and Jonny Dub) and live graff art. They also laid out huge canvases for budding artists to doodle on between dances. Talent told and the artists and DJs became too busy to maintain the night. The gallery brings back that spirit of art and music this week, with a launch that sees Manchester’s finest artists covering the walls with their skills. The exhibition will the display the work created throughout the launch and associated workshops as well as a showcase of professional work from those that made Sketch City what it was such as Hammo, TW, Benjamino, Krek, Eightbit, Tea One, Lispencie and more to be announced. Live music acts and DJs will also be on hand to help you celebrate a long overdue homecoming.
