Winter sports have a huge following here in the UK, made up either by the daredevils amongst us or by those who simply can’t wait until the summer months for a jaunt abroad. To fill the void left by a slightly lacklustre summer, the Ski and Snowboard Show is coming to Manchester’s EventCity to make its northern debut. Now entering its 40th year, the event features a range of wintry activities such as free ice-skating, curling and the best element of ski season: alpine food. A partnership between the event and the Chill Factore has also resulted in free lift passes, so that visitors can nip round the corner to the indoor slope to enjoy some real powder. On top of this, there will be a winter art gallery, huskies and all of the snow sports brands eager to sell you their merch. Best of all, hopefully it will help us embrace a season that is all too often belittled by the haters for simply just not being summer. Summer ain’t all that, anyway.
