A co-production between Waterside and Contact with 201 Dance Company, SKIN tells the story – through dance and hip-hop theatre – of a young boy’s intimate journey of gender transition ‘to discover a body that feels like home’. This latest show marks the return of 201 to the now annual Queer Contact Festival, in 2018 celebrating LGBT arts and culture across Greater Manchester from 3-24 February. Hoping to repeat the success of 201’s award-winning Smother, which enjoyed a sell-out international tour, SKIN is already garnering rave reviews in the nationals, including being described as the ‘stand-out dance of summer 2017’. Fusing urban and contemporary styles with an original score, Rome-raised London-based choreographer Andrea Walker directs a cast of seven dancers in a fast-paced, emotionally driven story of family, identity and belonging, creating a modern dance piece that is as thought-provoking as it is thrilling. One night only, so be sure to book. For more events at Waterside click here.
