Brian Batz’s Copenhagen-based project Sleep Party People return to Manchester to revel in the warm glow of album We Were Drifting On A Sad Song, released earlier this year. His trademark dreamy synths are enhanced by a greater reliance on organic sounds that energise the textures of the new tracks. Somnambulant yet sweeping shoe-gaze for gentle souls, the reserved group peer out from behind rabbit mask disguises. SPP are joined by four new musicians to recreate the tissue-thin layers of Batz’s bedroom productions, shining out like jewels in the dark cave of the Soup Kitchen basement.
