On March 11th Europhoria, Manchester’s newest Euro Pop obsessives are celebrating the best in Scandinavian pop music at brand new club night SmörgåsPøp held at Bar Pop in Canal Street. From ABBA to Zara Larsson and everything in between SmörgåsPøp take you on a journey to the Northern delights proving just why Scandinavian pop has some of the best pop on the planet. Nowhere else in Manchester has yet held a night so devoted to the genre of Scandi Pop; this is also the first of many Euro Pop nights Europhoria will be putting on. At 7pm will be a screening of the live final of Melodifestivalen; Sweden’s epic Eurovision selection extravaganza. Like the big event itself, you can expect high energy, key changes, catchy choruses, and of course, all the tension and drama as the results are revealed. The Swedes always come up trumps with a pop banger.
Straight after the show from 9pm the venue offers a smörgåsbord of Scandi ear candy. It’ll be a non-stop tour de force of the best pop & schlager tunes our Nordic neighbours have to offer, with artists like Robyn, Icona Pop, Charlotte Perelli, Carola, Loreen, Bjork, MO, Tove Lo to name just a few.
