With the final bank holiday of the summer fast approaching, Cornerhouse has announced a programme of one-off screenings to help fill those bonus hours. As part of its ‘Play It Again’ series, Cornerhouse will screen Made of Stone, Shane Meadows’ Stone Roses documentary (Fri 23, 8.20pm), and Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing (Sat 24, 3.40pm), which recreates gruesome scenes from Indonesian’s post-military coup in 1965. Mike Lerner and Maxim Pozdorovkin’s documentary Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer will also get another outing (Sun 25, 6pm) – plus Katsuhiro Otomo’s universally acclaimed, ground-breaking anime film Akira (pictured) will have a special 25th anniversary screening (Mon 26, 3.40pm).
