Sonic Youth’s magnum opus Daydream Nation hit the shelves on 18 October 1988, and was immediately welcomed as a future classic. Commenting in Rolling Stone, Robert Palmer wrote “it presents the definitive American guitar band of the 80s at the height of its powers and prescience”. In celebration of the album’s 30th anniversary, Sonic Youth and filmmaker Lance Bangs have been touring a program of Daydream Nation-related films, now visiting the UK and stopping off at Gorilla on Sunday 24 February. Fans can look forward to a live Q&A with Thurston Moore, Steve Shelley, Lance Bangs and Dave Haslam, with Bangs also presenting excerpts from his new concert film of the band, performing the album in its entirety, with Daydream-era documentary Put Blood In The Music shown in a brand-new, restored transfer. Tickets are on sale now.
