Sound Bites: An Evening of Food & Storytelling is a pop up collaboration by The Wandering Chef and a group of local historians and storytellers called Manchester Sound Bites. The big idea is to pair great tasting, authentic Asian food and no less tantalising tales from Manchester’s past. After selling out previous events in Chorlton, the stories at this supper club revolve around the life and work of Emmeline Pankhurst, Manchester’s celebrated founder of the Suffragette movement and a pioneer of feminism. Sounds good? So does the menu. Diners can expect a soup of sweet potato and coconut with a Thai-inspired pesto, followed by a Balinese ‘sate’ with hits of peanut, garlic, chillies and ginger, served with rice and a lively superfood salad. The Asian theme continues with chocolate cake, mango and raspberry sorbet for dessert. Furthermore, for every ticket sold, a tree will be planted – so you can feel good about enjoying yourself for once.
