Eastern Bloc records is one of Manchester’s most tasteful music vendors – and the team of DJs associated with the store continue their Blue Pig Thursday night residency this summer. Boasting only the best in techno, house, electro, reggae and more, their showcase at the Blue Pig is among the city’s finest free nights. Set up in 1985, the shop was a major influence in Manchester’s famous rave scene of the late 1980s and 1990s and while it has moved base camp a few times (Oldham Street, and now Stevenson Square) what has remained constant is an open-hearted commitment to the best new sounds and new producers and Eastern Bloc continues to pick up on new genres long before others take note.
