In Manchester’s Northern Quarter, bars come and go like stale sushi on a conveyor belt. There are, however, a few stand-alones that have become a staple in our city’s thriving creative hub -and one of them are celebrating four years of taking the lead in gigs, club nights and delicious jerk chicken. Celebrations are for knocking a few back with pals, so Soup Kitchen has invited back Floating Points who will be sharing the decks with Pender Street Steppers and Hashman Deejay. The latter two represent the Canadian label Mood Hut, which so perfectly defines Soup Kitchen’s ethos: sexy, rhythmic house-tinged sounds that you can get down to. Floating Points is a known crate-digger; spinning out everything from disco, soul, jazz, to upbeat afrobeats. Soup Kitchen is throwing this party for free as a thank you – so give it a big sloppy kiss on entry, will you?
