Rude boys – and girls – should look out for Jerry Dammers coming to Chorlton in July. The founder of The Specials and 2 Tone Records will guest at Electrik bar’s One Deck Wednesday – and it’s free admission. At this stripped-down music night, DJs are challenged to entertain punters with one deck, no mixing and no headphones. Dammers quit The Specials in the 1980s and has since built up a DJing reputation as well as performing with his experimental jazz group The Spatial AKA Orchestra. For One Deck Wednesday, he will dig deep into his vinyl collection for the sounds of jazz, soundtracks, library music, funk, reggae, roots… and maybe just a little ska.
