Stockport hosts its first ever town centre-wide Christmas celebrations with ‘Spectacular Sunday’

Stockport Town Centre prepares to celebrate Christmas and its Town of Culture status with its first-ever town centre-wide Christmas celebrations.

Stockport’s Spectacular Sunday will bring a huge line-up of over 60 breathtaking shows featuring 220 artists alongside roaming acts, carnival fun, live music and festive food stalls ‘on a scale not seen before across the town.’

Produced by carnival arts organisation, Global Grooves, Stockport’s Spectacular Sunday will take place on Sun 19 Nov from 11am – 5pm at various locations across the town centre, including Merseyway Shopping Centre, Market Place and The Underbanks.

Highlights include afternoon tea with a twist, hosted by Mr and Mrs Boon, live music from the New Orleans marching band, street theatre veterans Avanti performing The Pompous Spurting Man and a grand piano recital showcasing classic tunes known to have been recorded at Strawberry Studios.
