A taste of The Upside Down is coming to Manchester this week as Netflix UK bring the Stranger Things ice cream van to Manchester to give away free treats. The van – which is decked out in a colourful Scoops Ahoy style in keeping with the store that we find fan-fave character Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) working at in the new third season – is visiting the North as part of a tour of 11 streets in the UK with ‘Hawkins’ in their name. Fans of the show will no doubt remember that the creepy, 80s-infused events of Stranger Things take place in Hawkins Indiana – so Manchester viewers will find the Scoops Ahoy truck at Hawkins Close in Harpurhey later today. A selection of retro ice cream treats will be available, including Banana Boat and Coke Float flavours, a special Fourth of July-themed ice cream and a dairy-free Cherrie Jubilee option boasting cherry sorbet, dark chocolate sauce, glacé cherries and sprinkles. The truck features a demonic, Demogorgon facelift which will prove perfect for selfies – and the staff will even have a few Stranger Things and Scoops Ahoy props on hand for those who want to take a few themed snaps.
