Rochdale is set for its first ever festival of street art with new five-day celebration of murals and graffiti ‘Rochdale Uprising’. Taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend street artists from around the world will be heading to the North West town to turn the streets into galleries. The likes of Tasha Whittle and Billy, who’s work can be seen dotted around the Northern Quarter will be taking part as well as The London Police from Amsterdam and Rochdale raised Hayley Garner of street art collective Nomad Clan. In total there will be 12 murals painted across the town with a special launch on Friday 23 August to announce the town’s new adornments, followed by Overdrawn taking over the Baum for live drawing, music and more on the Saturday. On Sunday there will be a series of talks by artists at the Rochdale Markets and Food Hall with free entry to all events.
