A former Stretford pawnbrokers is set to be transformed into a pop-up radio station by a long-standing Manchester club night and creative collective.

Nite School has announced it will launch a brand-new broadcast arm, Nite School Radio, in Stretford town centre from Sat 24 May – Sun 31 Aug.

Led by Nite School founders, DJs Aural-B (Callum Parton) and Richie NS (Richie Ferguson), Nite School Radio will create ‘a unique space for celebrating local creative talent, emerging artists and community voices alike.’

During its pop-up run, the space will host livestreamed DJ sets, music culture and community-led shows, interviews and talks, after-hours club events and drop-in DJ workshops.

There will also be a pop-up retail offering stocking limited-edition merch, vinyl, artwork and small maker collaborations.

To mark the launch, Nite School will be hosting an official launch party on Sat 24 May from 7pm – 1am.

Callum Parton (AKA Aural-B), DJ and Nite School co-founder, said: “I feel very lucky to call Stretford home – it is a wonderful community filled with creative voices and talent, which makes it the perfect place for Nite School Radio to launch its first pop-up.

“Transforming a former pawnbrokers into a creative broadcast studio is exactly the kind of plot twist I’d expect to pitch and get rejected. But here we are — Stretford’s getting a new hidden gem of nightlife, daylight radio, and community noise. Our time in this unit might be short, but the ambition isn’t. See you there (and don’t forget to bring us your jewellery…)”
