The Cinematic Orchestra’s Stuart McCallum returns to Matt and Phreds for his ongoing residency, ‘Projects’, which features new music performed live and with no laptop in sight. Performing alongside Stuart are regular collaborators Pete Turner, Dave Walsh and Chris Manis. McCallum, whose alternative jazz style has been hailed as a new hybrid of composition and performance, is currently developing an album with a pool of talented musicians and is using his monthly slot at the club to showcase the new material that emerges. Expect appearances from vocalist Rioghnach Connolley, beatboxer Jason Singh, drummer Luke Flowers and bassist Jon Thorne. So far the musicians have produced an album’s worth of material using their live performances to work on arrangements before going into the studio later in the year.
