Band on the Wall present a day of music and fun in Heaton Park today called Band on the Stand. From noon, visitors can get stuck into New Orleans style brass-hip hop fusion with Hot Botz (pictured) and reggae from Extra Love as well as a number of workshops. These include a harmonica taster session and a box guitar-making masterclass. If music isn’t your vibe, there are more than 600 acres of park and follies to explore. Highlights of the UK’s first municipal park include a boating lake, a little train, ponies, an old fashioned walled garden as well as vintage trams to ride on, operated by the Transport Museum (well worth a visit in itself). There’s plenty of parking or catch the Metrolink towards Bury from Manchester city centre.
