Have you ever played golf with a frisbee? It’s something not a lot of people have had the opportunity to do – but here comes the chance to tick it off your list. With disc golf, the players’ aim is to throw the disc as close as they can to a target basket. From where it lands, they then try to get it into the aforementioned basket in a few tries as possible, before heading to the next ‘hole’. It’s an ideal way to take advantage of local parks, with some good old exercise and a spot of community spirit – and Longford Park in Stretford is getting in on the act this summer. Organised by Manchester Disc Golf, the park is hosting several open days that are free and include all the equipment needed. So to try your hand at disc golf, just bring yourself (no booking required) to test how accurate your aim really is – and, don’t worry, volunteers will be on hand to show you the ropes. Future open days are Saturday 26 July, Saturday 9 August and Saturday 30 August.

Sat 7 Jun, Longford Park (on the old Pitch ‘n’ Putt course behind the café), Stretford, M32 8PR, 9am – 6pm, FREE – no booking required, info@manchesterdiscgolf.co.ukwww.facebook.com
