This time of year can be potentially rather gloomy, sitting sadly in between the playful summer holidays and the festive Christmas period. But rather than moping about in the autumnal bleakness, head to a TED lecture for a healthy dose of motivation – a kick up the arse for the mind, if you will. TED began in 1984 as a conference for leading thinkers in technology, entertainment and design (hence the name), and has since been inspiring the minds of many across the globe. TEDxSalford 3.0 will feature speakers such as award-winning poet, author and playwright Lemn Sissay, technical lead at Google Glass Thad Starner (pictured), the brilliant Joanne Harris, author of Chocolat, Blackberry Wine and Five Quarters of the Orange, among others, as well as entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den alumni, Rachel Elnaugh. The lineup is pretty hefty already, but check out the website to see oodles of other well-known names, all hand-picked to get those all-important juices flowing again.
