The Manchester Open returns to HOME this February in a spectacular celebration of creative talent from across Greater Manchester.

Taking place every two years, the Open Exhibition is the biggest celebration of Greater Manchester’s creative talent. Between Sat 3 Feb – Sun 28 Apr, the HOME Gallery walls will be filled with 480 artworks created by locals, selected by a panel consisting of art experts and community representatives.

Open to all, including those ‘who already identify as artists and those who don’t’, the Manchester Open spans paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, ceramics, digital and mixed media, video, audio and more.

Now in its third edition, HOME invites entries from individuals of any experience level and background.

Over 1,800 submissions were made to the 2024 Open, the highest ever received, and it has been the job of the selection panel to consider every submitted artwork and choose those that will fill the walls and spaces of HOME Gallery. Made up of nine members, the judging panel is reflective of the scale and spectrum of the exhibition, with practising artists, contemporary art professionals and community members all represented.

Three artists will be awarded with artist development packages managed by Castlefield Gallery and HOME. AA fourth artist will receive the HOME award for a solo exhibition in HOME’s Granada Foundation Galleries, which will include in-kind support and one-to-one mentoring.

The People’s Prize will also return, giving our gallery visitors the opportunity to vote for their favourite artwork.
